Lead Quality Assurance Engineer, Charlotte

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Quality Assurance Engineer will be a hands-on leader that will gain support, mentor people and process, and contribute effectively to the team. Mindset and discipline are important; the goal is to build out a solid quality assurance environment that can grow efficiently. Three key objectives are robust testing maturity including coverage, versioning for testing re-use ensuring reliability, and actionable plans for automation and continuous integration. This position entails participating in all aspects of the SDLC process to achieve successful results as an individual contributor and a team collaborator.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own delivery of all testing dictated by feature work, e.g. unit, functional, regression, automated
  • Actively participate in SDLC process, including estimation, test plan creation, developer/team collaboration
  • Collaborate/support business groups for direct testing and User Acceptance Testing
  • Create/maintain well organized version control process for test plans, ensure accuracy for re-execution
  • Create automated testing frameworks, maintain existing automated testing frameworks – middle-tier and UI
  • Mentor peers on QA best practices, use of testing frameworks, and designing for reliability and repeatability
  • Use code analysis tools to report on various metrics including code quality and systems testing coverage
  • Assist in the administration of multiple testing environments, including code merges and deployments
  • Innovate and implement continuous integration process for app health feedback

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Degree (BA/BS or computer science) or equivalent work experience
  • Previous SQA experience: five to seven years
  • One to three years of experience managing QA Engineers
  • Strong SQL skills, able to write/execute advanced statements, SPs
  • Experience with JUnit, JMeter, Selenium, Mock data, other testing tools
  • Experience writing and maintaining test automation
  • Proficient in Java or other object-oriented development languages
  • Experience with web technologies, for example, Javascript, PHP, WordPress
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Great command and understanding of SQA methodologies and best practices
  • Experience in agile development environments
  • Excellent time management skills and awareness for prioritization and overall backlog of work
  • Attention to detail and solid problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Aptitude for learning business and technology, and translation thereof into testing strategy
