Damage Waiver FAQs

What is the Damage Waiver Charge?

The Damage Waiver Charge is an additional charge added to DCLI’s Daily Market Rates for Direct ChassisLink Pool (DCLP) chassis, as of July 1, 2025. This charge acts as coverage for damages that total $1,000, meaning you will no longer receive a damage rebill for damages on a DCLP chassis that total $1,000 or less.

Why did DCLI implement the damage waiver program?

DCLI implemented the Damage Waiver Charge on July 1, 2025, to less lessen carrier financial responsibility for equipment damage, eliminate the administrative burden imposed by nominal repair bills, and support our ongoing investment into our fleet and operations. How will the Damage Waiver Charge be reflected on my invoice?

The Damage Waiver Charge will be included in Total Rate per Day and will not be differentiated out on the invoice. The Total Rate per Day will be multiplied by the number of chassis and usage days during the term. The Total Rate per Day is calculated per region by the formula below.

Base Rate per Day + Damage Waiver Charge = Total Rate per Day

Please refer to the Daily Market Rates on the DCLI website for the latest market rates for standard marine chassis in each region.

What happens if I have damage on a DCLP chassis that incurs a total cost of more than $1,000?

The Damage Waiver Charge only applies to damages that incur a cost of $1,000 or less. If damage on a DCLP chassis incurs a total cost of more than $1,000, you will be billed the cost of the damages in full.
